Minutes for February 1, 2011

16 Members present.

 

Meeting called to order @7:00pm by President Bob Nicholas

followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

 

Bob introduced visitor, Mr. Gordon Schlag, KF5JMJ of Pasadena.

 

Minutes of January meeting approved.  A motion to accept by

David Smith & 2nd by Maggie Sanders.   Motion carried.

 

Treasury report was given by Jimmy T.

Starting balance of $1710.04  . Deposits of $317. Expenses of  $102.84

Ending balance of $1924.20

A motion to accept by Ralph Fellows & 2nd by Maggie Sanders.  Motion carried.

 

Committee Reports:          Activity Committee

Bob & Bill have been working on an activity calendar including Field Day &

Tailgate sales.  Bill Venable has suggested a Windom Antenna building party.

Date of April 9 @ David Smith’s house @ 9am.  Meet for Breakfast @ 8.  Place to be announced later.

Bill is still trying to get someone @ the VFW to confirm Field Day, June 25 & 26.

Discussed tailgate sales.  Club will have 2 locally & 1 jointly with Baytown & Clear Lake club.

Bob & Bill still looking for location central to all 3 clubs.  Ralph Fellows, David Smith & Bill Cook will be checking also for locations.  Date will be April 30.

Our Tailgate Sales will be June 4 or 18 and September 17.

Bob went thru calendar month by month.  The Great Escape is Sunday, March 13. 

Rayne Ham Fest is the same weekend.  Also MS150 bike ride to Austin is April 16 & 17.

Bob suggested an outdoor operating event done in connection with a contest.  It was decided to do the CQ World Wide Contest on October 29 @ Brazos Bend State Park.  The shelters have electricity & are only $50.  Bob or Bill will see about reserving a shelter. 

The Event calendar will be sent via email to all club members.

 

Antenna Committee:  nothing to report. 

Birthdays:  Don  Sternberg, Ralph Fellows, Wyatt Haley, Earl Krause & Marc Hopkins.

Old Business:   Election of officers next meeting.  Election Committee members are Maggie Sanders,

Ann Zimmer & John Allen.

New Business:  Ralph has a B & W dipole antenna that covers 160 to 6 meters without a turner & would like to find a good home for it.  Call Ralph if you can put it to good use.

This & That: Ann said that Rebecca is going to State for a Business Management class completion in March.

Needs & Prayer Request:   David Smith’s grandson has his last chemo treatment in April & is now considered cancer free.  Ann ask for prayers for her aunt & uncle, Lee & Barb, who live in Michigan.

Meet & Eat: Tuesday, March 1, 2011 will be at Central Texas Bar-b-que on FM 518
